Who Do You Call?

Okay, I finally reached the point where I had to "reach out and touch someone" even if it was by phone! Just as I was in that frame of mind I received an email from the National Fix and Flip Network. From what I understood, they were a non-profit organization that helped people "fix and flip" their homes. Well, they do, but not where we live. So, they gave me the name of a few agencies (one being The National Agency for the Aging - LOL), another being Habitat for Humanity. Well, I didn't think the latter did anything except new homes; I learned better.
Uniting with an organization - Hearts and Hammers - they also repair the homes of aging, impoverished, and people with disabilities. Now, I won't tell you - yes, I have several disabilities and am on SSD as I type. So, yesterday, I sent off my email to these folks. Now, whether or not I ever hear from them...???
We'll see!

Have I Told You?

For several years now I have been suffering with horrible allergies, I'm talking horrible! Well, about two or three years ago I began hearing more and more about "toxic mold syndrome." Yes, I read every article I could on the subject, and the more I read, the more I began to realize that more than likely this was my problem - yet, how was I to know for sure without getting scammed?

Well, finally, about four months ago, after being sick for about three weeks before I:
  1. Felt like going to the doctor
  2. Had the money to go to the doctor
  3. Could drive myself to the doctor
  4. I went to the doctor
  5. Then, I did, as Andy on the Andy Griffith Show told Aunt Bea to do, "called the man."
Their report confirmed it for me - there was toxic mold:
  1. In the basement under my bed - in the laundry area
  2. In the basement "toy room" - he said all the paneling, etc., in that room would have to come out
I won't go into detail about all of it, just know that we have a huge mess on our hands! Do we have the money to do anything about it? Absolutely not! Have I contacted our Insurance Company? Not yet! I'm afraid of:
  1. Insurance being cancelled and/or...
  2. Premium being increased.
If it were left up to me, if Extreme Makeover or HGTV cannot come to our aid (or any other group) I would elect to just let the house get Foreclosed on and then find a house that we can Rent to Own.
What is your opinion?

Kiddos!

Sometimes these kiddos just make me so proud!
Just when I knew Cody wasn't going to make it through the 4th grade, he pulled himself up by the bootstraps and began making the grades to make it through; just like I used to do! I'm so proud of him.
Of course...little Callie has been consistant all year long.
Jessica is doing great...we need a makeover now more than ever. I truly think we have toxic mold! I've been sick forever.
Anyhow, I did this to post Callie's lastest Video!
She is just - the most!

Yeah School!

School is Great! Yeah School!
Kiddos are doing pretty good! I was amazed at how well they adjusted...I'm still working on it myself. Yes, I wake up - somewhat when the alarm goes off. At least I get up and take my "wake up meds." Then I rush back and wait for the "snooze" alarm to sound again, hit it two or three more times and then it's time to start the "begging" calls. Of course the first ones start with trying to get Roger up.
Boy, do we ever need a makeover! Maybe soon we will start on the video!

We use these everyday; unfortunately our grands (who we are raising) also think it's okay to take them out into the yard and use them to dig with. They clean up and still survive!

Hubby's Heart

We thought everything was over after surgery! Not!
I'm here I am with two herniated discs trying to care for him and take care of two grandchildren. Fortunately, the first week, my ex had taken them to Florida, then my oldest daughter took them for a few days. However, trying to make the house comfortable for him just about did me in...this was truly a case of the blind leading the blind; only it was't a visual problem, it was physical, because I too have heart problems.
He finally came back home July 24. It has been c-r-a-z-y! He lives in his recliner - still! No, he doesn't use the recliner as a recliner...he uses a foot stool to prop his feet up and sleep. Our house just doesn't seem like a home anymore.
Calgon take me away!
We definitely need this house torn down and another one built in it's place. One day soon I will post pictures!
